MAAO Discussion Board/Forum: The MAAO has started a new Forum (discussion board). The first discussion board is COVID in Assessment. It is located along the top rail of the website.   The first Discussion Board is in regards to your municipalities regarding COVID in Assessment. Please take a moment to go in and answer the questions. In order to reply you must be logged in. MAAO Forum

COVID-19 (Coronavirus): The MAAO is very sensitive to the recent declaration by Governor Charlie Baker with regards to the state of emergency over concerns about COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and upcoming MAAO offerings.The MAAO has made the decision to postpone or cancel upcoming Course/Workshop/Conferences through June 30, 2020. Future offerings will be reassessed when more information regarding social gatherings is updated.

The purpose of this organization is to educate the Assessing Officers of Massachusetts and their assistants in the field of assessing in this State; to assist in creating efficient and uniform administration of local tax laws; to afford opportunity for the discussion of subjects pertaining to local taxation; to provide methods for encouraging the development of desirable tax laws and to discourage the adoption of harmful measures relating to taxation or to the duties of local taxing officials; to promote public understanding of Assessing Officials work efforts to the general public. - Article II of the MAAO By-Laws as amended 6/24/93
